Our charity dig for 2025 was delayed from earlier in the month due to inclement weather but it was well worth the wait! The cause was Cardiomyopathy U.K. as one of our member’s, Daz, father-in-law had sadly died earlier in the year. There was a raffle with lots of excellent donated prizes and Lee made us all hot dogs - including a lovely alternative for the vegetarians - and there were some lovely cakes from Emma (Dan’s wife) and her family and friends. It was a brilliant day, the weather smiled on us and the atmosphere was wonderful.

There were 45 acres of cut barley/wheat fields and around 40 detectorists eagerly set out to see what they could discover. Of particular note was Philip’s silver William coin, Ian’s cap badge, and Danny’s lovely buckle,

But there were three coins nominated for Find of the Day by members:

After the vote, in third place was Robert’s hammered, Henry III,

In second place was Greg’s Elizabeth I hammered

But in first place, by quite a margin, was Sam’s beautiful denarius! Congratulations Sam!
