These new fields were near a Roman road so we were all hoping for some Roman finds but there was only one small fibula to be had on this visit. There were buttons and coins a plenty, including an Associated Irish Miners Arms halfpenny. a couple of silvers and a cut quarter hammered.

There were a couple of funny finds during the day:

Alex found this angry face

And Rob found some false teeth

Only two finds were  nominated for Find of the Day and after the vote,

In second place was Tracey’s lovely spindle whorl

In first place it was Greg’s find - yet to be properly identified - a hand tool, possibly a chisel, that is likely to be from between the Bronze Age and early medieval era. (I’ll be back with more information when we have it). Congratulations Greg!
