It was a good turnout to new fields at a farm that has already given us some great finds on past digs. The weather was fine, the digging easy and the company great. Some excellent cake from Debbie eased the going, too.
At first, the finds came slowly and hope-inspiring signals led to disappointing trash, but then the finds started. Among them plenty of hammered coins and other silver coins, amidst the buttons, buckles, bag seals and farm tokens. Among the more unusual finds was Paul’s coin weight from the 14th century

Zowie also had a commonwealth

And two jettons

But the nominations for Find of the Day were for two very unusual finds, and after voting, in second place was Daz’s lovely medieval barrel lock

And in first place with a significant majority was Danny’s wonderful bronze spear/arrow head. Congratulations Danny!
