We were all glad of the lower temperature after such hot weather and gathered enthusiastically at this new farm. The digging wasn’t too bad, given how scorched the earth had been for so many weeks. This area of Worcestershire has an interesting history when it comes to WWII and the Cold War and, like so many farms here, there were a lot of bullets. Clearly there had been training exercises here all those years ago. We speculated that this might have involved the practice of flying a plane towing a long banner across the sky for target practice, given the vast amount of bullets that came up.

A frequent comment was, ‘They’re all registering different numbers!’ which meant we couldn’t just avoid similar signals and readings. Midway through the morning, Jack posted a photo on our Facebook page that made us all smile,

There were some good finds alongside the bullets, however:

Leon’s gaming piece

Jay’s first hammered coin - congratulations Jay!

Daron’s William III and Elizabeth I

Bill’s hammered.

However, there was one amazing find that led to a unanimous decision as  Find of the Day without any competition. It was Tony’s wonderful Commonwealth coin. Congratulations Tony!
