The early morning fog lifted and the day was dry and mild for the fifty plus detectorists out in the three fields. We are all very grateful to the admin team who put in such hard work to find us these new farms.
The digging was excellent, there were plenty of finds and little trash, making it a pretty perfect day. There were lots of silver coins, hammered coins, and lovely farm tokens among the finds - along with a medieval buckle clasp, part of a Roman trumpet brooch, and a buckle in the shape of a snake.
There were four nominations from members for Find of the Day and, after a vote
In fourth place was Izaak’s hammered coin

In third place was Ian’s Elizabeth I hammered in beautiful condition

In second place was Rob’s rare commonwealth coin

But in first place was Sam’s very first hammered coin. Congratulations Sam!
