This was a new farm for the club and it didn’t disappoint! Nearly 40 acres of pasture that was described by one member as ‘digging through butter’! The weather stayed fair for much of the dig and a wide range of interesting finds came up. A number of hammered coins, silver coins, a solid cast 16/17 C crotal bell, a toy canon and a servant’s bell, among them. Any of these might have been considered for Find of the Day, had it not been for two outstanding items: Deb’s stunning zoomorphic spout (c 1400-1500) & Sarah’s beautiful gold memento mori ring, yet to be dated but thought to be of significant age.
While all the members loved Deb’s spout, and are looking forward to finding out more about it, it was beaten in the poll by Sarah’s marvellous gold ring!
In second place, then, Deb’s marvellous zoomorphic spout

In first place, Sarah’s glorious gold memento mori ring

Congratulations Sarah!
We’re very much looking forward to another visit to the farm and new fields! 😊
