Three new fields in a farm right on a Roman road that we had previously visited. 40 detectorists turned out enthusiastically and the weather was fine, the digging pretty good, although the fields contained a good deal of trash.
Spirits were high and after a slow start there were some lovely finds. Among them was Amanda’s enamel brooch/pendant, Tony’s fibula, Leon’s small fibula, Bill’s trumpet brooch, and these four are featured in photos below. There were also some hammered coins and Roman coins.
However, there was one stunning find by Matt that led to there only being one nomination for Find of the Day.
Here is Matt’s penanular brooch. Congratulations Matt!
