A good turn out for a new farm for us that had never been previously detected. We had a large field of cut stubble and soft, sandy soil. We were pleased that the lovely farmer was impressed with both our consideration in digging and filling holes and the finds that came up. He offered us more fields for future weeks on the day.
There were a variety of finds found by a number of members, from Roman coins and artefacts through to medieval, late medieval and more modern. There were a number of nominations for Find of the Week and the vote decided the following results:
In joint fourth place was Guy’s fibula
And Mac’s Roman leaf brooch
In 3rd place was Greg’s two coins stuck together, the silver a William from 1696
In second place was Stephen’s Roman coin, a Constantine.
In first place was Jack’s wonderful crotal bell in complete and pristine condition. Congratulations Jack!
