We were all excited to get back to this farm that has brought exciting finds in the past. Even in the hot weather when some of us waned and failed around lunchtime, the digging was reasonable and the finds came up!

Even when some of us couldn’t stand the heat, there was fun to be had chatting and enjoying Debbie’s wonderful cake and brownies under the gazebo.

The finds that came up were varied and exciting and even included gold that could well be Saxon!! That is awaiting final assessment.

So there were 6 nominations for Find of the Day and after the voting,

In 6th place was a Jack’s lovely anular brooch

In joint 4th place were

Danny’s brilliant gold - the FLO believes it could be Saxon!

And Martin’s fabulous seal

In 3rd place was Rob’s super hammered coin

In 2nd place was Bob’s incredible Roman spoon

But in 1st place, by some margin, was Barry’s amazing Saxon coin which he recovered in two halves around 10 feet apart! Congratulations Barry!
