We were back for a second visit at this farm but to new fields. The turnout was excellent, the weather was wonderful and the company great. After a slow start, the finds emerged, hammered coins, bag seals, farm tokens, buckles, a brooch, a thimble, fibulas and silver coins among them. After a field from the previous dig was re-opened, the coins kept coming. It really was another fabulous day out digging with our wonderful club and we were all in good spirits, thanks to the weather and the number of finds coming up. We are all very grateful to our fab admin team for finding and setting up such wonderful digs.
There were five nominations for Find of the Day. After a vote, the results were:
In joint fifth place were Bob’s very small hammered coin

And Heath’s unusual horse harness pendant

In fourth place was Mark’s great Henry VII half groat

In third place was Deb’s lovely Edward III half groat

In second place was Barry’s super Jetton

But in first place was Sarah’s wonderful Georgian fob seal. Congratulations Sarah!
