Our second dig at this North Worcestershire farm with its easy-to-dig sandy soil and cut stubble. Two large fields and a good turnout of hopeful detectorists who weren’t disappointed! After the distraught comments from members who missed out on her cake, Deb went above and beyond and brought two cakes - what a star!
The weather smiled on us with sufficient cloud cover to keep us cool enough and the rain staying away. There were plenty of finds from a wide range of dates and the members nominated four to be voted on for Dig of the Day.
In joint third place were:
Danny’s Elizabeth I penny
And Rob’s beautiful strap end with its seahorse decoration.
In second place was Ron’s highly decorated fibula
But in first place, by a huge majority, was Deb G’s Bronze Age/Roman button toggle. Congratulations Deb!
