A large gathering of keen detectorists gathered at this farm we first visited last summer. Alongside the new, clover field was the chance to detect on a field that we visited during the heat wave last summer. There had been so many signals but the land was so hard we couldn’t dig them up!

The expectation with which we arrived was not false and there were so many finds from different eras, everyone went home with something for the display cabinet. Among the finds were a large number of hammered coins from a range of eras, ancient beads, buckles, strap fittings, a Roman hairpin, crotal bells and thimbles. Thanks to our wonderful admin team for continuing to find farms for us to dig and creating such a wonderful, safe and enjoyable environment for us to enjoy our hobby. There were also some significant finds and the nominations were both varied and wonderful. The vote was:

In fifth place was beautiful lovely Craig’s hammered

In fourth place was stunning Rich's hammered

In third place was Barry's super Ampullah

In Second place was wonderful Sarah's flint (she's making a habit of finding these!)

But first place was never in doubt - it was David's stunning, gold ring dated by the FLO as between 1400 and 1600...dance, David, Dance! Congratulations!
