Staffordshire 1st June 2025

This was a return to a farm previously visited but to new fields. 24 Mercians attended the dig and the weather stayed kind for them. They were rewarded with a range of finds from different eras which made for an interesting mix when it came to the vote for Find of the Day.

In joint second position were: 

Sarah’s Knights of the Sepulchre pilgrim’s badge 

Izaak’s Elizabeth I hammered coin

Amanda’s 14th century horse harness decoration

But the winner by a significant margin was John’s silver Chinese coin.
