What a brilliant Easter Sunday dig! The sun shone, the company was excellent and the finds just kept coming. Our host farmers were delightfully enthusiastic to have us on their land, showing a real interest in the finds so it was great that two members found some lost machinery to save them on the cost of replacements. I think we’d all love to go back for more digs in the future.
So on to the finds, too many to mention them all here but there were coins galore, fibulas (including Jo’s first!), denarii, silver denarii, double silver, triple silver and gold! What a field!
We had a poll on the find of the day with a choice between Robert’s iron age toggle, Bob’s Charles I hammered coin, Lee’s Roman coin & John’s gold posy ring. The clear winner was John’s posy ring. Congratulations John!
